Become a Guardian home family
What is a Guardian Home
At Southern Oak Breeders, our dogs are first and foremost family. To ensure each dog in our breeding program receives the individual love, attention, and quality of life they deserve, we thoughtfully partner with select families through our Guardian Home Program.
A guardian home is a loving family who welcomes one of our breeding dogs into their home as their own—at no cost. The dog lives full-time with the guardian family, enjoying all the comforts of home, while remaining a part of our carefully planned breeding program. This approach allows our dogs to thrive in a family environment rather than a kennel setting, which is something we deeply value.
Being a guardian home is both a responsibility and an honor. Guardian families agree to follow our health, care, and breeding guidelines, maintain routine veterinary care, and communicate closely with us throughout the dog’s time in the program. When the dog is needed for breeding, we work together to ensure the process is smooth, respectful, and stress-free for both the dog and the family. All expectations, responsibilities, and details are clearly outlined in a guardian contract so there are no surprises.
In return, guardian families receive the joy of raising an exceptional dog, ongoing support from us, and the unique opportunity to play a meaningful role in preserving and improving the Southern Oak Breeders program. Our guardian families are not just participants—they are trusted partners, and we are truly grateful for the role they play in helping us raise healthy, well-loved dogs.
Guardian Families are compensated for their time in partnering with us to make our vision a reality. Must live within 250 miles from Midland Texas.
If you’re interested in becoming a guardian home and believe your family may be a great fit, we would love to connect and answer any questions you may have.
